Gabriela (Gabi) Afra is an associate attorney on VZN Law’s real estate team, where her practice focuses on drafting and negotiating commercial leases, lease amendments, and resolving pre-litigation real estate disputes. Gabi represents both landlords and tenants across a variety of sectors, guiding clients through every stage of the leasing process, from initial letter of intent (LOI) negotiations through to final lease execution and post-lease buildout support.
Gabi’s work includes advising on lease compliance, commercial landlord/tenant disputes, and the day-to-day legal issues that arise during the life of a lease. She regularly assists clients in reaching practical solutions with their landlords or tenants to modify lease terms and address evolving needs. Gabi’s practical and solutions-oriented approach helps clients navigate complex leasing transactions and avoid potential conflicts before they escalate.
Before joining the real estate team, Gabi supported the firm’s clients in a broad range of matters, including contract negotiations and employment law. This experience informs her well-rounded and strategic perspective in her current practice.
Gabi earned her J.D. at USC Gould School of Law, where she participated in the Mediation Clinic, mediating a variety of cases in the Los Angeles County Superior Court system. She also served as a Peer Mentor, providing continuous guidance and support for students during their law school careers. Prior to attending law school, Gabi studied at the University of California, Irvine, where she earned a B.S. in Public Health Science and a minor in Psychology and Social Behavior.
